Hello all!

My name is John and ten years ago I began studying Aikido. But then "life" got in the way and I stopped. I'm now living in Mexico City and I'm going to go watch a class this weekend at an Aikido dojo. I believe they are associated with Aikikai (sorry if I spelled that wrong).
I hope to get to know many people here and start my study in Aikido.

Welcome back to Aikido John.
I'm in the same boat as you - trained for several years, stopped due to health reasons, (and I got hit by a car while crossing the street - OUCH).
But today I visited my sensei, Koichi Barrish, for a Shinto ceremony and I really miss the time I spent at Kannagara.
Sensei used to have rock-hard mats, but he's got some new cushy ones that are calling to me!

Any thoughts about returning to Aikido as a senior citizen?

Regards,
Kristina

Hi John,

Welcome to AikiWeb. I hope your re-entry into aikido goes well.

(And, hi Kristina!)

Thanks for the replies! Just a reminder for those of you starting Aikido soon. Buy some kind of knee pads and some type of socks for your feet.
I didn't and now I have a big scare on my left knee. Plus I scratched my toes up. The cover on the mat is very different from the mats i trained on 10 years ago.
