So, I began doing aikido about a year and a half ago at Florida Aikikai, where I still practice as long as I am not sick or injured... My whole family does aikido; myself, my boyfriend, and my two daughters (7 and 9).

We have lived in Florida for two years now, having come from Hawaii. We are currently outfitting a sailboat that we can live aboard and sail around. We chose to do aikido together so that when we travel to places and are unfamiliar with the culture and area we can walk into a dojo and be familiar with aikido enough to participate and socialize even if we can not speak the local language. We are planning our departure form Florida in Marchish of 2009, so this is now upon us as to getting comfortable enough so as to not embarrass our home dojo when we bow on the mat in a foreign land.

I have read the forums on aikiweb for at least the past year but it only occurred to me last night that I could actually participate. I am usually not this slow, but, well, I feel like such a beginner that it is sometimes not apparent that I *could* actually do a thing.

I am really looking forward to meeting people and learning more. Hopefully I will get to meet some of you in other Countries as we travel as well.
