So I found this today on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/HAND-STITCHED-KENDO-BOGU-ARMOR-SIZE-XL-USED_W0QQitemZ160303610339QQihZ006QQcategoryZ36282QQssPageNameZWDVWQQrdZ1QQcmdZV iewItem

It had some kind of metal plate attached to to men. It also has some kind of strange back protector. Does anyone know what you would use this kind of bogu for? Just people playing around, or is there a specific practice that requires this kind of armor??

I'd post it on a kendo forum, but I don't belong to any.

Thanks

It's just normal, very cheap bogu that has been abused and that someone has made an extra torso pad for. It is not hand-stitched. It is bottom of the barrel machine-stitched. And it doesn't have a metal plate attached to the men. It has holes in the menbuton where, according to the seller, it had a plate attached.

This is just cheap kendogu that has been used and abused, I suspect, for backyard ninjery.

Not my creation. I don't know where it started, but it's pretty common in the places on the web that deal with Japanese sword-related martial arts.
