Last night I saw this movie, Man On Wire (http://manonwire.com/), which tells the story of Philippe Petit's high wire walk between the towers of the World Trade Center in 1974. The movie is very well done - edited for suspense, sometimes very funny, great combination of archival footage, recreations, and current interviews. Two things stood out for me:
1. the long range dream/focus: when he was a 17 yr old French kid he happened upon a newspaper article about the planned WTC and immediately it was his dream to do this
2. watching him on the wire, whether on a 10 foot high practice wire or hundreds of feet up, is a study in simultaneous focus and ecstasy that should interest any m.a. esp I think those who do the koryu weapons arts.
If you have a chance to see it (http://www.magpictures.com/dates.aspx?id=be7f3311-664f-41fd-a8a8-99b27c37be45), check it out.
