Has anybody been watching "Burn Notice" on TV? I've noticed some episodes have some Aikido - Like action by the main character ( the "burnt" spy ).
No point really, just curious :)

USA...
There really is a bunch of Aikido in the show including some really great/cheesy highfalls in the first season. There is also some judo in the first season..

A fun, well written show, plus it stars the Legend, Bruce Campbell. Its a good compliment to USA networks Monk series...

Jeffery Donovan practiced at the NY Aikikai back in 1993-94, for a role in a movie called "Inside Out" by director Stephane Zerbib. I don't know if the movie was ever released.

A bunch of the NY Aikikai students were used as the "Aikido extras"... myself included...
Donovan Waite Shihan was the Aikido instructor in the movie.

According to interviews with Jeffery Donovan he has studied aikido for six/seven years, has a blackbelt in Shotokan karate, and began studying BJJ after Burn Notice's first season. I think he was doing SAMBO on an episode as well, but he didn't mention it in the interview. Burn Notice is a really fun show to watch...

I like this show too, and I liked it even more when I started seeing the aikido. :) I had no idea that he studied Aikikai specifically, though. Cool.

Bruce Campbell - enough said. :D It also stars another fellow who looks -dead on- like DJ Tiesto. I'm half expecting him to walk into an old abandoned warehouse one episode and bring the beats. As far as USA shows go, I like Psych, but Burn Notice is enjoyably watchable.

I like the show. Good action, funny lines, and the fight scenes don't hurt either.
This is a really fun show on all counts . . it has a retro vibe in terms of the writing (hearkening back to some of the 80s adventure series), with enough modern sensibilities and humor, plus BRUCE CAMPBELL, wooo!!!
For my money, it's like they mixed elements from Magnum PI with the Equalizer and set it in Miami . . love it. And my wife likes it, too!!

I agree...great show. Especially with Bruce Campbell.
I've noticed Jeffrey Donovan's character is doing more blood chokes this season than the previous two. Perhaps a reflection of his shift to BJJ? I wonder how much he gets to influence the fight choreography.

You're already into season 3? I just saw the first episode of season 1 premiered on UKTV last Friday. Not brilliant but has promise, have series linked it for now. On a side note, Yahoo Japan are reporting it as the next big import program in Japan, following 24 and Prison Break........

Loving Burn Notice. A lot of fun. A good "Summer show" in that it's not too deep, but some fun and exciting plots in fun and exiciting locations with fun and exiting characters.
The characterization is quite good, too.
My favorite scenes are when the main character has to "fake" a fight, either with his brother, or has to lose to someone in order to sell his "cover."
