Neat, but why do they always pick batman. The punisher had a movie a while back and nobody did the "what does it take to be the punisher?"

Of course I guess that is because it is easy.

1) Have wife and kids murdered in front of you
2) have police and military special forces training
3) have enough cash to buy lots of guns
4) Go on mob killing spree.

My guess?

Many reasons:

1) No thanks. I'd rather avoid that kind of trauma. Thank you very much. But that's not to say, I've not had my fair share of PTSD inducing trauma in my existence already. Yet with all of the rage that has developed within me from such, like the Batman, I chose to channel those energies into something good- as opposed to creating more trauma for others.
2) I don't need to go on a quest to locate a secret monastery that is hidden in the mountains of Japan, in order to learn Aikido. Thankfully, some-such training is readily available in the Best of Dojos locally. (Bonus- I'm not freezing my tush off in the Monastery's dormitory at night).
3) You can't eat guns. The money/resources spent on guns and upkeep of same, could be better spent elsewhere on more important things, such as in the hand of the honestly down and out panhandler.
4) It is because we don't want to go on a killing spree like the Punisher. Instead, we (or rather I) would prefer to instigate a change of heart in naughty minded folks.

Or to put it more succinctly: The Batman wants folks to change their ways- that's why he generally allows his opponents to live. (And not to insure that he remains employed- as is posited by some of the more cynical comic book readers have suggested.)
Whereas the Punisher- punishes his targets with death. Dead people don't have :epiphanies.
