This article entitled "Lessons from Japan" (http://erstarnews.com/content/view/2028/64/) highlights Mr Mark Larson, 5th dan, who teaches aikido in St Cloud, Minnesota at the Minnesota Aiki Shuren Dojo (http://www.aikido-shuren-dojo.com/).
From the article:
He marvels at how Aikido parallels other areas of life, including writing: "You learn style, then purpose, then the process, then dealing with people. Just like with Aikido." [...]
Larson’s mentor was Morihiro Saito, who had spent 1946 through 1969 with Aikido’s founder, Morihti Ueshiba, a relationship that ended only with the older man’s death. Similarly, Larson stayed with Saito, as a live-in student, in the city of Iwana, from 1993 through 2002 when Saito passed away.
"It was very special to learn at the place or origin of Aikido and walk on the same mats as the founder," said Larson.

Thank you for posting this article. I do not live in the distribution area of that newspaper and may have otherwise missed out on reading it.
I feel very fortunate to be able to train with and learn form Mark Larson Sensei right here, very close to where I live. In addition to regular training, we have special weapons practices at his home (weather permitting). He is very giving of his time, and so is his family. Mark and Yuko are truly special people who excel at the gift of giving and sharing.
Domo Arigato Gozaimashita,
Matthew
