hi all,

we are planning to form a new fedaration in accordance to hombu guideline and policies for hombu recognition. in line with this, we need to formally apply and i believe we need to provide a document that would contain all necessary information required and stated by hombu guidelines. I would like to ask your help if anyone can provide us with some sort of template or sample document that was previously used for this kind of application so that we can use it as our reference for the document that we need to create. Article 2 : HOMBU RECOGNITION
1. The Hombu will give Hombu Recognition to an Aikido organization which it judges to have satisfied the following conditions. If more than one Aikido organization exist in a country due to national law and/or rules or any other reason the Hombu admits as appropriate, Hombu Recognition can be given to those organizations.
(1) The relevant Aikido organization has been established legally and has had more than five years of substantial Aikido activity since it's establishment. It is not a single dojo of an individual person.
(2) The relevant Aikido organization has more than one affiliated dojo open to the public, and holds activities throughout the year.
(3) The head of management or the chief of Aikido instruction of the relevant Aikido organization (hereinafter referred to as the Person in Charge) is 4th dan or above. The Person in Charge is a permanent resident of the country of that organization.
(4) The relevant Aikido organization has more than one holder of 2nd dan of Aikido or above, who will assist the Person in Charge in establishing the committees for instructing and dan/kyu grading examination.
(5) The relevant Aikido organization has established a Headquarters, Regulations and a Directing Committee.
(6) Issuing of Hombu Recognition to the relevant Aikido organization will not cause any confusion or problem in the organization's country.

Even though it's not specifically stated, and perhaps goes without saying, but I'm pretty sure the required ranks in the above post would have to be documented Aikikai ranks.

Indeed they do Clark. If the Aikikai did not issue the 4th Dan and 2nd Dan ranks that are required, you will not be able to proceed with the application.

thanks for all replies... we basically reviewed and meet the necessary criteria to be recognized but as to how application should be done is actually our concern at this point that is why I've asked for document or any template you used in your organization when you first applied for hombu recognition. Unless it's a simple as writing an email to them with all the necessary info required.

A letter by email should do it (address on the hombu web site). Introduce your organisation and let them know who the head of your organisation is, along with the other grades needed to meet the criteria.

Hello,

There is no set form or procedure. So there is no template for a typical application for Hombu Recognition.

I suggest that you send a formal letter to Doshu (not via e-mail), setting out very clearly the ways in which you fulfill the conditions set out in the published Hombu regulations, and requesting Official Recognition.

Be sure to keep copies of all your correspondence and of any replies you may receive.

I believe there is a criteria of your group being a legal entity for 5 years as well. If you are forming a new federation that may be an issue.
