Hey guys,
I am currently wanting to tour America after completion of my A-Levels.
Being a Brit i would like to see some of the sights and naturally dojo's on the way round.
I guess what i'm really asking is 'are there dojo's in every state and how often are they open if anyone knows?

There are many kinds of dojos in every state - most of them pretty friendly. I suggest using the dojo search function of this web site to check out states you plan to visit.

If you head to Ann Arbor from Chicago you'll be passing right through Kalamazoo and Battle Creek Michigan ...both of which have dojo. You are welcome at both of them.

If you are going to be in northeast Ohio at any time, feel free to look us up. Just for your information, Jon Cameron Sensei, RokuDan, JAA Shodokan is touring the US also. He will be at my main dojo on 15 November in Warren, Ohio. He is also a Brit and very skillful.

Cameron Sensei will be travelling all over Ohio between 11 Nov and 25 Nov with two formal Seminars/Clinics, 17 Nov in Mansfield, Ohio and 24 Nov in Dayton, Ohio. Any and all are welcome, there is a small fee for the clinics to defer the costs of travel and boarding.

If you come to Orlando, there are dojos here of almost every size and "flavor". I'm sure you would be welcome in pretty much any of them, and between them, there is training going on somewhere every day of the week.

We have classes taught by a variety of different instructors - there are 3 classes every weeknight plus 2 on Saturday afternoon.

I won't be on the mat due to ACL surgery last week, but visitors are always welcome!

Can't compete with the delights offerred there.....but in crossing the U.S.A. you *may * be in the hot, ugly western edge of Texas in passing.....Midland Texas has no classy wine, gourmet meals, artisan cheeses...not to mention damn poor scenery, :sorry: but we would love to offer you hospitality in the traditions of the area (cold beer, authentic tex-mex food and all the Aikido you like.:D

If you happen to visit northeast Ohio, you are also welcome to train at either of my dojos--Three Streams Aikido in Twinsburg and Kent State University in Kent--both teach Steven Seagal Shihan's Tenshin methodology. In particular, our dojocho, Vladimir Soroka (godan), focuses on weapons training (swords, knives, chains, etc.) and randori techniques on Sunday mornings. I would also recommend that if you visit Ohio, you also train at the Cleveland Aikikai in Cleveland Heights or Oberlin College in Oberlin--the chief instructors, Jim Klar and Jeff Hadley, are simply superb.
