I initially began aikido training about 15 yrs ago with Iwama-ryu aikido, unfortunately my sensei had to close the classes after 2 yrs. I then studied Yoshinkan for several yrs, but I found that hard type style not to my liking-maybe becasue of my first experience being a different style...not sure. Now almost 10 yrs later, I have finally got my life organized enough for me to continue my training...it is an Aikikai dojo but really to me its the same as, or close enough to my experience in Iwama-ryu so as to be a smooth transition back into the art.
When I was 20 I had surgery done to my knee, the outside cartilage was removed, so it had hindered my in the past when training but even more so now...20 yrs later! I may have to opt out of the sawari waza routines, so hopefully this will not pose too much of a setback in my training progress.
Where I live, there is a "black hole' in terms of aikido classes, so I do have the long range aspirations of possible someday being able to open some classes so more people can enjoy this awesome martial art.
I enjoy camping and fishing in some of the great wilderness here in Ontario. I also enjoy doing some woodworking when time permits.
Well, look forward to participating in the forums here, I have already read several interesting posts before signing up...lol
Gambatte!
