I've started Aikido this year and I love it. I know that it won't be hard to find one, but if you guys and girls know of different Aikido dojos in Osaka, Japan, I would love to hear about them. I'm going there next year for an exchange program at Kansai Gaidai University, and there is a kendo dojo on campus that I will attend but I'd like to continue Aikido so my already lacking ukemi doesn't get any worse. Just wondering.

I don't know how it corresponds to where you are but Fujitani Miyako Sensei (http://www.aitenshin.com/images/english_site.html) is in Osaka

I haven't trained with her myself, but I trained with one of her students for a while who gave a good report.
Also Shimamoto Shihan's Shosenji Dojo is in Toyonaka, although again, I'm not sure how easy that is to get to. He's awesome by the way!

I teach at Gaidai--the other campus--so you are welcome to contact me about anything you want/need to know. Send me a PM and we can take it from there..
The dojo I train at is here: http://www3.pf-x.net/~mushinkan/
It's by far the closest to get to and I really like the instructor and some of the students.
Another fine dojo is this one. http://aikidokyoto.com/e-index.htm The main teacher is the wife of another Gaidai teacher (at the main campus). She used to teach on campus, but that didn't last long.
There are other options. A nice dojo in Katano nearby with an interesting teacher (I don't know if they have a website) is one. Another option would be to travel into Suita for Osaka Aikai Hombu Dojo. Living in Hirakata makes it easy to commute to Kyoto or Osaka. You should be able to find something that suits you.
Again, contact me if you've any questions.

Wow, awesome. Thank you so much, it might take me awhile but when I get ready to go I will defiantly contact you again. Thank you so much.:D

I realize that you have much to think about and plan before you leave for Osaka. However, if everything goes right, I won't be here when you arrive. Of course, you can contact me anytime, but I recommend earlier rather than later.

Our dojo is in Tennoji, if you feel like it, please come for a visit. The first time is free.

let me know if you would like to come.
I went to Gaidai and practiced at katano dojo for about 6 months(1996-97). There were a few other students who did aikido and we kind of made our own club on campus. it was better than nothing, but really you need an instructor, don't you.
Do you have Dr. Scott for anything? He was great.

I won't really know for awhile. I'm not going until spring 2009.

I see, I thought maybe you came in september. I had a great time at gaidai, I made lots of japanese friends, the japanese classes were really effective, and liked it so much I ended up staying here (I went back to the states to finish my degree of course).
I hope it's as good for you as it was for me.:D

Here is our website. If you can't read the map, I can send you the English version of it. I made an English version of the info page, but the guy who updates the website works a 60 hour a week job. The dojo is closer to shitennojimae yuhigaoka station, but it's a 10 minute walk from Tennoji. Look for the takoyaki place on the corner. Turn west and turn right on the first small street, maybe 50 meters from the main street. Nomura Shihan comes on Friday. Hope to see you!

Todd.
