Both the Yoshinkan HQ website and the IYAF website indicate that Shioda Yasuhisa was appointed Kancho after the retirement of Kyoichi Inoue Sensei.

http://www.yoshinkan.net - Japanese
http://www.yoshinkan-aikido.org/ - English

I suggest you talk to your teacher about anything else you might need to know because anything said here is heresay and there's always two sides, sometimes three, to every story.

Now go take a bunch of koho ukemi's for your teacher and stop playing on the internet. LOL!

Cheers.

That looks like our very own Michael "Stumpy" Steumpel as uke in the picture.

It's true things are happening... and it's true that the picture is of Stumpy.

Gozo Shioda's son Yasuhisa has taken over at honbu and Inoue Sensei has left. Chida Sensei has also indicated he will be leaving the honbu.

You'd have to ask him that to know for sure - but it is not a physical issue.

He "retired" from honbu, but in Japanese "retire" and "quit" are used interchangably. It is certianly not "retirement" in the English sense of the word because he indicated an interest in opening a new dojo at his "retirement" ceremony.

Hi Spike,

Has Chida Sensei given any clue as to his plans?

Best,
Ron

Hi Ron,
Chida Sensei has had a satellite dojo that he has been teaching at for years (all the honbu teachers have satellite dojo). Apparently some students have been moving their training to that location.

I have no idea about his plans though.
