hello every1. im a new member to this site...never really looked at what's going on here. im a shodan in jiu-jutsu and a beginner in iai/kenjutsu. i wanted to try something a little different, does any1 know of an aikido club in north-east scotland?, also does any1 know where "kessa-giri" got it's name from? i heard it was from the angle of the monks robe (kessa) but was then told i was wrong....can any1 here give me a definative answer? thanks. ali

Hi,
You are correct, kesa-giri does get it's name from a Buddhist monk's robe, because the cut follows the line of robes, ie. diagonally from the shoulder to the opposite hip.
