i've just come from just over a 2 year lay off, and boy isnt it surprising how much you can forget after just 2years
i have forgotten just about everything my ukemi is really bad...i've forgotten etiquette. and pretty much everything the moves, what they are called,
granted i am learning at a fast rate and a lot of it comes natural. its still like im learning it all over again.
anyone else got any simular experiences? or advices for me?

If you have to, do your rolls from the knees until you get the hang of it again. Don't worry about your pride; it's better than being physically injured. If you had done Aikido for a while before, things should come back pretty quickly. Do your warm-ups and footwork exercises every day, and attend class regularly, and things should come back pretty quick.

heheheh. welcome back; it really is kinda like a bicycle in that the body/brain has it stored in there SOMEwhere, just have to practice a bit to bring it back.

I had trained for 13 years, then took off for 4 years (primarily due to ice hockey related injuries). I then returned to the dojo (the best decision I made). I've now been back training for close to 3 years. When I did come back, I was a bit 'rusty', but you will be amazed how fast the 'body' remembers...just take it slow....:)
...I was more frustrated about how long it took me to fold my hakama after the 4 year lay-off, than my technique...:D
