Hiya , A friend and I ordered the 12 oz Dogi from Bu Jin about 6 weeks ago, we heard nothing for a while and then about 10 days ago we got a mail saying there was going to be a really long delay as they were having problems, has anyone else had this problem with them?. We are thinking of just cancelling the order and going elsewhere, any suggestions??

Personally, never had a problem with them. For some of us, Bu Jin is like family, run by one of us.
Problems happen. If you are impatient, yes, cancel and go elsewhere. If not, thier product is usually worth the wait.

We do not mind waiting , we were just a little disappointed that it took so long before they got in touch with us to let us know that there was a problem and there would be a delay and was just wondering if anyone else had the same experience

By the way, does anyone know, why Bu Jin is not allowed any longer to ship wooden training tools outside of the US?
It sounds as if one calls it gardening stick, it would work, but if you call it 'jo', an aikido training weapon, it does not.
Is than an achievement of the famous Homeland Security Office?
It sound like Q: "Why can I order a US fighter airplane, but not a wooden sword?", A: "Airplanes are not shipped with Federal Mail."
Oh I am sure there are better reasons, I just do not understand it.
Regards
Dirk

Tozando.com - Try the seersucker gi. It will cost you, with shipping and handling fees, but it is very soft and thin, but doesn't stick to your body like a karate gi would. I've always gotten my things very quickly from them and they are in Japan!

I just had an issue with bujin a few days ago. I ordered a charcoal aikido weapons case A, and they sent me a weapons case F in black. Maybe this has something to do with the "problems" they were talking about?

I used to be a menswear buyer for Eddie Bauer... this type of thing happens. Now that factories tend to order their raw materials as they go rather than holding large inventories, all you need to really screw things up is a batch of fabric that gets rejected or the customs service shutting down imports because the quota for cotton imports has been reached. Sounds like this is a likely explanation. Especially when they say the delay could be "lengthy". It's a tough business, definitely stressful. If you are in a hurry I suspect you need to go elsewhere but don't blame Bu Jin; these types of problems are almost never the manufacturers fault.

As a small business, one of the big issues is always staffing. Boulder is a very transient town and it's hard to find and retain good help, especially at the rate a small business can afford to pay.
These kind of problems exist with any mail order company. The proof of the pudding is how they handle the problem. Do they make it right? Bu Jin has always been great about that in my experience.
