View Full Version : British Aikido Board membership fees question

Been looking at the BAB website. While they give info on lots of things they do not give information on what exactly the fees they charge for joining as an association are. Does anyone know what it costs? PM if needed.

The BAB does not charge a fee to individuals as such but a proprtion of the members fee for each association affiliated to it goes to the BAB (about £5.00 I think) to cover insurance & admin. costs.

I think its just 1.25 Insurance for each new member plus an annual subscription and association civil liability insurance. (ours was 90 quid...I don't know if this is standard).
The Annual Subs is broken into Bands based upon no. of members.
Band A is for 100 to 149 members - £430
Band B is for 150 to 199 members - £495
and so on up to Band L for 2000 to 2500 members £2040 pounds.
Hope this helps - If you know your federation no.s Mike I'll tell you what Band you are probably in.

I know we're above 100 members but don't know how many exactly.
What I would like to know really is what do I pay as an instructor who runs a club? What do my students pay and what does our association pay?
Does the association pay a single membership fee and my insurance and my students insurance is taken from this or do I pay for that personally?

As Darren has covered, there is an annual association fee based on the number of insurance certs issued in the previous year. You then pay £1.40 for all certs issued. In addition, instructors pay £52 approx for instructor indemnity insurance.
If your association is not already a member of the BAB, I believe that you have to have 100 members or more to apply, and are given some sort of probationary period before your organisation is accepted as a full member.

What do we get for our annual association fee if we are paying for our insurance on top of this?
