yesterday I had a great beach workout. sure it was hard like runing in the water with a bokken over your head while the waves crash on you or throwing everybody and being thrown my everybody it was great. one complaint the watchers and tourust kids liked to go I can do this and tried but couldn't the atmospher was great I learned a lot and had a pot luck afterward. Id like to hear about other outside workouts and how they went I dont care if it happend 10 years ago just tell us what it was like... great.....

Hello!
Last saturday we had a little Aikido demonstration outside on a little platform. Just as we started, it began to drizzle and the mats started to be very slippery. But doing randori was great!!! So I decided to hold class outside this Friday (with our mats). I can tell you later how it was.

At the Summer Camp in the Rockies, we have two outside weapons sessions every day. The last couple of years it was held in the soccer field which had a great view of Mount Sopris (to which we bowed as the "shomen"). I believe this year we're going to have a big tent near the dormitories so we don't have to walk too far.
At Saito sensei's seminar last year in Denver, we had a weapons session outdoors on Sunday.
I've also been a part of a demonstration which was held outside with mats on the ground. I would have liked to have worked out with some of the judo folks but I didn't get a chance...

i think training out side is a great idea because in the last few months my club has been training on the lawn of a school and i have seen meny thing come of it.
The beginners are growing more and more confident with performing aikido and even the high ranks are getting better faster.
what do you see in your dojo's???

We too love to go training at the beach. Itīs a lot of fun and you can fall really nice and smooth on sand. Sometimes we do training together with the judo group of our university. After the training there is always a nice swim and a wonderful barbecue. Itīs just great....if you donīt have as much rain as we had this "summer".

I am looking for a quote by O' Sensei in which he states that one should practice outdoors as often as possible. Does anyone have a reference?
Thanks in advance,
Mark
