Hello!
I am an enthusiastic Aikido practitioner and it seems I can never stop talking or thinking about Aikido so I thought it a good idea to join Aiki web.
I started Aikido when I was 10 years old under Aziz Bellassane in Brussels. At the time I started because the first day I cam to school I was involved in a fight and thought I needed to learn to defend myself.
When I started Aikido I took every fight as an opportunity to test my Aikido knowledge and realised that Aikido was very effective. Pursuing the study of Aikido with time I found that I was getting in less and less fights.
Fourteen years later even though I live in London and often pass what are considered to be rough areas not much happens to me. I now study under Geoff Flather and am becoming increasingly more interested in the philosophical/ spiritual sides, that are helping me excel in my personal life and working life.
I feel that without Aikido I might not be alive and certainly I would not be were I am now. I am certain Aikido has changed my life for the better and I intend to hang in there to keep changing.
Johannes
