Is anyone familiar with this book by Kanshu Sunadomari? If so what are your thoughts? I understand this a three part series, has anyone seen any of the others? Also I believe the book was published in 1981 but I am not certain.
thanks
Jeff

This is part of a 3-book Japanese-language series, released in the early 80's. I only have the first volume, "Kokyuryoku" (breath power), because I really only collect books I can actually read.:D
I do know for a fact that all three volumes were actually published (this is not always a given) but beyond that I have no idea of the contents or character of any of them, although I do suspect some of our better-read contributors do have some insight. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.:sorry:

If anyone who reads japanese can give a synopsys of the one on breath power, I would really appreciate it...

Ron,
There is very little text. The book is heavily illustrated with photos of Sunadomari Sensei doing techniques. Techniques cover suwari waza; hanmi handachi, tachi waza, buki waza (jo kata and bokken) and warm up and cool down exercises. There are a number of kokyu techniques presented in the book. There are also a number of kaeshi waza. I would love to see the two additional volumes.

This sounds familiar to me but I haven't found it again though I've been searching for it the last few days. What I can tell you is that the title "Aikido no kokoro" means "The spirit of Aikido".
That's why he refers to all sorts of techniques trained in Aikido in the volumes he's written - and he even doesn't leave out suwari waza (kneeling techniques - both kneel) and hanmi hantachi (kneeling defender and standing attacker). I also think those volumes also include an essay about the importance and the training of Aikido-Kata.
I'll go on searching - maybe I can find out where I've found it before - a link to some person posessing and selling that kind of books.
