Hey Andre! I was in Cascais last weekend to meet one of my friends for dinner at a nice Brazilian Restaurant! Only saw a little bit of the town from the train station, but looked like a nice place...love to visit it in the summer time!

Yup, Cascais is great in summer, and even in the rest of the year.

It has a very good wether indeed (well, today is raining! Didn't rain for.. maybe a month/month and a half, i guess.. Rained when you were here?) I live in Parede, 4/5 train stops after Cascais ;)

Steven Seagal hosted the Friday Night Project on TV here in the UK last night. Was slightly wooden reading from the autocue occasionally but didn't take himself too seriously, seemed happy sending himself up. Didn't know what to make of the show hosts at times. Did kotegaeshi on a couple of "audience members". Overall fairly entertaining, although I'm not really a fan of the show, would probably have been funnier if I'd had more to drink ;).

Will probably wind up on youtube at some point.

All right. What I'd like to know is what you - personally - think of his acting in his films. Is this really AIiki-DO or not, regarding the spirit he's showing.
I'd say that - after my personal opinion - in his roles he's acting too provocatively and that's NOT the way O Sensei Morihei Uyeshiba would have put Aiki-DO but rather its origin the Aiki-JUTSU whose origin was the Daito-Ryu he learned.

I said in his roles because otherwise he would have never been promoted 7th Dan Aikido - as far as I know - and so he's one of very few non - japanese Aikidoka to have received this high level of honor (André Noquet 8th Dan, ...) .

I am looking forward to your answers. Maybe you can lead me on to another thread if this question has already been discussed up to an acceptable end.

I must remind you of the fact, that I've been to Aikido-training only a few times because I am a Judoka. But as you can see I do know a lot about it and thats t my reason for posting here - and not in a Judo-forum which do exist also.

I think that most of the people on here will have more bad things to say about Steven Seagal than good. The subject has been driven into the ground.

As for me, I like his early movies. I guess I'm not an intellectual. There is something about a guy who is righteous and can kick everyones ass in a bar by himself that I find entertaining, I'm sorry. I also think that when Eddie Murphy tore up the redneck bar in 48 hours is classic. Maybe I need to evolve a little bit, who knows?

I thought Snipes was TKD. Mark Damascas did some capoiera in Only the strong survive.

Norris 8th dan in TKD? His style was Tang soo do-I had not seen him classified as 8th dan anywhere.

Sean Connery did some aikido in the movie he did with Snipes-can't remember the name. He apparently holds nidan through Seagal. There is another actor holding a shodan in aikido but I don't recall his name at this time.

SEAGAL . It's got to be spelled like this because the name's of irish (gaelic) origin, meaning something like "wheat".

He made a TV series a long time ago where he was a private eye or some such who was supposed to be hot at jujitsu. As I remember it, there was very little jujitsu in it though.

Sorry, but this series has never been shown in German TVor I simply can't remember it. What's the plot of it in general?
And Speaking of action series: What about Lorenzo Lamas' in "Renegade" I mean he's at least been twice Kickboxing World Champion! And i strongly remember one part of it in which he also leanrs AIKIDO in order to win a otherwise deadly fight against one of his worst opponents.
