View Full Version : Dojos in Montreal West

I recently moved to Montreal, and opted to settle close to the office, which happened to be on West Island. And then I went to look for a dojo... well, I couldn't find many over there. All the good ones seem to be located downtown or eastern, which, due to circumstances, isn't feasible for me - I won't be able to arrive in time thorough all the traffic jams.
Is there anything good on west side? I don't even insist on Aikido, and would consider any other aiki- or ju- related art. What I really care is good instructor and teaching quality...
Thanks!

Hallo Dmitry,
Sorry, to fullfill these two conditions you will need to travel, or move closer to downtown. My advice is always find place to live close to the dojo, not to work. Work will change often....

Hello Dmitry,
Welcome to Montreal.
Mr. Janczuk has some excellent advice, with one caveat; go investigate dojos for yourself and see what appeals to you
With that in mind...
1 - There used to be an aikido dojo on St-Charles boulevard, but they closed down. I believe they re-opened in Hudson. I have no idea who is teaching or what they are like.
2 - Mr. Andrew Darnel is currently running classes in Ste-Anne-de-Bellevue. I have had the pleasure of practicing with him on several occasions and can say he is a fine martial artist and genteman, though I have never attended one of his classes. Perhaps you and I could meet and try them together? Details = http://www.abcmontreal.ca/
Anything I can help with just ask, and good luck.
