Hi,
Does anyone know how you would add kanji characters to microsoft word documents? Is there some sort of software add-on (preferably a nice free one, but unlikely if microsoft have anything to do with it).
Thanks

You need to install the Japanese Language Pack from microsoft.com. Last I checked, it was a free download.
If you P.m. I can send you hand drawn Kanji fonts. These were given to me By fellow named Jim who hand drew them for his Teacher and then set them up as fonts.
There a 3,500 of them.
I then placed the fonts ad searchable Word files so you can print them and look them up to match
If Jun can tell me how I can attach them somewhere. This software here won't allow a font upload

Hi,
I installed the language pack last year. It's really cool, and it's free, which is also cool! A quick search gave me this link: http://newton.uor.edu/Departments&Programs/AsianStudiesDept/Language/asianlanguageinstallation_XP.html
Looks similar to what I did. Now just a shift Alt away from Japanese when I need it. 羨ましい でしょう!
Cheers、

If you are using XP. The language fonts are on the CD. You need to install the language. Its very easy to do but I'm not home so I can't give you the instructions. Try going through Tools - Internet Options - Language button and then follow the directions.

Once I was writing up a research report on a school computer, and every time I tried to enter a series of numbers and letters (as in, the codes for the particular devices I had used in my project), the computer switched to kanji. I tried to change the language selection several times, but it kept doing it. Absolutely crazy-making.
But it does show that it can be done...

No problemo. Glad to be of help. If the internet was around when I was a kid, I'd be ruler of the world! ;)
Cheers,
