I read through the "Aikido is weak" thread and I have to say to those people that responded with a "disgusted" attitude that so many people actually responded to Stuart's attack -- Look at how many did NOT respond after viewing the thread. At this point it is 129 replies out of 3,735 views!! And, it's not even 129 people, just 129 replies. Many of these people posted several times, including colleen who had a rather passive, LOVING approach, so no one should be getting too concerned here. It's a very small percentage of aikidoka that even bothered responding to this IDIOT.

Stuart is just a dumbass, plain and simple. I remember this clown posting here even before Jim23, which is why we were so hostile with Jim and his similiar comments about Aikido and it's effectiveness. Right Jim?? At least Jim has finally found a dojo, got on the mat, and gave it a go. At least, that's what he claims. ;)

Does Stuart have a right to his opinion?? Of course he does, but so do we and right now our opinion is that he's a moron for opening his mouth about that which he does not, WILL NOT, understand. The difference between Jim23 and Stuart, is that Jim23 is more than capable of comprehending the concept once he opens his mind to it, Stuart is NOT. I think Jim is still partial to the striking and grappling arts and a little machismo, but the goal is not to brainwash, just broaden one's horizons, and I'm glad to know he is at least TRYING it, regardless of how long he sticks with it, or even likes it.

Stuart on the other hand, is a TURNIP, and we all know what we can't get blood from. This guy needs a large lesson in humility. I hope he gets it soon, FOR HIS SAKE.

Stuart may or may not be an idiot, I dont think his posts were really honest enough to tell us anything about him.

He definitely is a troll though, his initial post was intended to wind people up and provoke a response. Usually trolls measure their success by the number of replies they get.

If everyone ignores a troll, he gets bored and goes away, so far from being weak, Stuart's trolling was an astounding success. He laid the bait and we all took it.

He'll doubtless be well chuffed with himself now that, thanks to you, his thread even has a spin-off named after him!

Thanks to me huh?? Well, I never replied to his original post like you admitted to doing, AND, this thread named after him is not TO him, there is a difference.

So anyway, you're welcome and I accept your apology.

Chris,

You haven't changed much, have you? ;)

So, you don't think I train in aikido? You're thinking too hard again. :D

Although it's a generalization, you Aikiai guys from Florida are so touchy - nice thread though.

Hmmm...that third paragraph looks like you are speaking for everyone, sceptoor.
Peace.

You're right Mark, I guess I was. SORRY.

I guess I should say, many of us??

And Jim23, no I haven't changed, but I'm glad that you did. Good to see you still remember old .......friends. *heh* :D

Seriously, nothing wrong with a little ribbing now and then, aye?? I'm glad to hear you're taking aikido now, but I'm dissapointed that you're "picking and choosing" what works and what doesn't work already. It all works, just give it time. A couple months of Aikido is NOT enough to evaluate the art. What you have disregarded as worthless today will only create gaps in your Aikido tomorrow, and therefore hinder your learning. Basic, fundamental aikido is too slow and visible right now and doesn't seem realistic at all, but is extremely critical to your advancement.

So, now you're giving me aikido lessons? ;)

I find much of aikido is great - very effective (some of the people are not though), but a lot is too drawn out and impractical. I don't really care, as it's fun training.

I never accept anything completely and I never disregard anything completely either (unless mj tells me to :D ... now, if mj, Erik and ca tell me different things, I get really confused).

It still astounds me how people here (aikidoists and aikidoka alike ;)) are so challenged by Stuart (or anyone else who threatens their little worlds) - who cares? ... really? Chris, I don't like you and your aikido sucks ... sorry, I meant, I really like you and you are very talented. Are you any different because of what I said? Of course not and who gives a flying fartenheimer?

Oh, your comment about not many people responding to Stuart is pretty stupid (not you, just your comment - hey, I make stupid comments all the time:D). Look at how many people read the thread and how many of the regulars (and new people) posted. Look at how many attacked him (virtually). Even look at this new thread!

I'll say it again ... Lighten up people! I'm talking about seniors right down to beginners, it really makes no difference. When I first came here, you said that I don't get it, that I don't get what aikido is all about. Based on that thread - even this one - I still don't ( where's mj when you need him?).

And what's this aye thing you're onto? Surely you must mean Ai? :D

Well, that's what I'm talking about. The amount of people that responded(excluding me of course :D), is FAR less than the amount that read it. That tells me only a tiny amount of people that read it actually thought it was worth responding to. Why is that "stupid"?? I only mentioned it because a couple of people were so upset that people responded to him instead of ignoring him. Which I agree with, but it wasn't like 3000 people responded to him. It was a TINY fraction in comparison to the views. That was my only point.

I have to agree with what your saying here. I posted a comment to that thread. So what. It means nothing. This is not what Aikido is about and I cant believe the things I'm reading in this thread. Why are you people so upset over what this guy says. Your just giving him exactly what he wants by writing this stuff about him. Aikidoka dont act like this. At least not where I'm from. Its just like in a fight when the opponents energy has overpowered your own. You give him an opening by doing this. How can you protect yourself properly with so many openings like this?
Overpower him with love right? Isn't that what its all about, UNIVERSAL HARMONY!
I hope in the future we can be stronger than this. Its just like getting punched in the face unexpectadely. Next time youll move and it wont hurt.:ai: :ki: :do:

I know...
Imagine if Stuart had said something insulting to every Aikidoka. Would have been hell then:D
