Hey all,

1) What is the proper way to display your Katana, Wakasashi, Jo and Bokken on the 3 prong stand? I have been told it is Blade curve up, but am not sure.

2) Why won't anyone teach me the Japanese Tea Ceremony? According to a fellow student, this is reserved for higher ranks..is this true.

Thanks

"Proper way" involves displaying respect for both the weaopns and the people around you... the rules vary, but the common rules are: (1) the blades should be "curve up" (that is the way they are worn, as well) (2) The tips of the blades should point away from the shrine or kamiza (3) The tips of the blades should not be pointing at the door, as this is a rude greeting for visitors.

Blades are usually displayed above Jo, everything in a decreasing length as you go up the rack, but I think that is an aesthetic thing rather than a rule.

As for the Tea Ceremony, I'm sure you can learn that from other sources -- look up the local Japanese Cultural Center for references.... I'm thinking your leg was getting pulled. ;)
