Well, if nothing else you are in the very center of the BJJ world. If I were there I'd be getting out and checking some BJJ gyms out. Some of the best in the world are in Sao Paulo. Get a little cross-training in, you might like it!

I met a man who teaches in Brazil, I think In Sao Paulo. He was training in Colorado with Ikeda Sensei and is friends with one of the senior students at the ASU dojo in D.C. Can't remember his name. However, a polite email to those two dojos might get you the information you seek. He was quite good, by the way.

Thanks Ken - got some mates in Boulder so that's easy - nice one.
I'm debating whether I want to do cross training there, BJJ or capoeira - BJJ seems practical, aiki, and closer to aikido technically. Capoeira seems interesting, very different and perhaps more in tune with my values. I'm also wondering if learning either art will mess up my aikido - the posture and movement pattern of capoeira for instance seems contrary to those of aikido.
If anyone has any thoughts then please throw them my way - I know from expereince though the choice will most likely be made my practical and social factors though :-)

There appear to be several aikikai instructors in SaoPalo. Check the dojo search.
