I've just posted something on the "does sensei have his own plane?" thread and it got me thinking.... what advertising slogans could you have for Aikido?

my first was 'Aikido, a great excuse for spousal abuse!'

Or... Come fly with us.... for a limited period of time only!

'we can show you the Ki to self defence' :o

Any other ideas?

Once upon a time, my old dojo had a t-shirt for "frequent flyers club". The old Capital Aikikai t-shirt used to say "before enlightenment, draw water, chop wood. After enlightment, order pizza, drink beer." But my all time favorite is the one from Palm Beach Aikikai with a big mean samurai wielding a sword, and the slogan said "More Wasabi"

Currently, I'm partial to the one on the bumper sticker message thread: "Don't trust anyone further than you can throw them. We'll show you how."

A slogan I have seen translates as "Aikido - human origami".

This is not funny. I know. It is very sad when one hears that one's ex-husband has died and all one can feel is relief that he can't ever hurt her again.

Just throwing some random ideas out there.

"Aikido : Reach out and grab someone."

"Peace through greater throwing power."

"Who needs a gun (knife, weapon), when you can hit someone with the Planet?

"Aikido: Size doesn't matter. (...but it makes things more interesting!)

(Here's a tacky one, but I think it's funny. ;) )

On the front of the T-shirt, where the "pocket" space would be, it would read:
"Aikido Mofo"
... on the back of the shirt is would say: "Grab my wrist. I dare you." evileyes

I'll keep working on this. I'm sure there are some good ideas. I know I've had better ones before this. ;)

We are also doing T-shirts now and have narrowed it down to a few slogans:

1. "Shut up and train." [the leading contender]
2. "If it hurts, it must be working."
3. ".....the roots."

Best regards,

"Our drinking club has a bit of an aikido problem..."

But settled for our organisations usual t-shirt slogan instead.

We printed 2 t-shirts this year.

The Second: "Three taps makes the pain go away" with beer glasses with our 3 dojo logos on the back.

Relax upper body, drill very fluently your feet to the ground (why not like Jaxon 5! hahah)
Relaxing upper body, opens the holly dor of FEELING!
Feeling opens the mighty garden of Others
Others help you to find your self, TRULY!
This shared truth, puts everybody in best state of heart to STUDY the mystery of this amazing WAY; technically, it puts in best state of mind to find the "Cotton point" (somehow like Archimed point!) where very little strengh is necessary to break partner balance, drive his Center trough the shared flow of Ki!
This shared truth brings joy and warm light sharing... the rest is question of time, but the journey then get one clear feet in paradise!!!....

One problem I would have with heavy referencing to Ukes in aikido T-shirts...

The 'yaoi' fandom has co-opted the word VERY heavily. And that is one fandom I want to stay as far away as possible. Althought they might get a kick out of watching aikido practise...

Of course, "Uke - it's not just for pretty boyas" could get them curious....
