I'm a new member. Yay! I've been studying Aikido for about 2 1/2 years now, though I havent been able to train much since coming to college. There's not a dojo that offers Aikido in Mobile. But I do train as often as possible when home. I'm absolutely in love with this art. It is definitely one of the most fun things I have ever done in my entirely short life of only 18 years. Anyways, just wanted to introduce myself! Have a spectacular day and a great time training!! :D

Hi Krysten,

Welcome from Nashville, Tn. Don't sweat being able to train as often as you like right now; Do it when you can and realize you have a lifetime ahead of you still to train. Aikido will always be there for you.

Thanks so much, Michael!! I know that aikido is always there whenever I have the time, but training makes me feel closer to home, ya know?

Krysten,

Try getting a jo and practicing kata. You can do it by yourself, and it helps you to retain your footwork. Good luck finding a place to train; I can't imagine being without this great art! :)

Krysten, I don't know which college you are attending in Mobile, but I believe USA is offering a course in Aikido on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. You might even be able to attend if you are at a different school. Judging by their required textbook, it is Tomiki style. Might be worth checking out.

Happened upon your posted deliema. I travel down from the DC area and found another dojo. They are the Eight Winds dojo located in Gautier, Ms. It too would be a fair distance to travel without a car.

A suggestion, offer to buy a potential driver dinner and a movie for driving you to and from the dojo. Or a new book and gas money, then they could stay and watch.

Positive Ki,

CB

Thanks for the suggestion. I've actually found a guy who studies Aikido and lives on campus w/ me. He and I are trying to figure out a good time to train. But i will definitely keep your ideas in mind! :D
