Kanai Sensei, teaches or used to teach at the Peruvian-Japanese Culture Center.
When I started Aikido in 1993 I began there, but Kanai sensei wasn't teaching at that precise moment. I was there for around 6 months (orange belt) and then left to the Centro Aikikai del Peru Dojo (now in Miraflores). I had to began as a white belt again.
Even though I never trained directly under Kanai Sensei, I trained under his high-ranked students. What I can say is if the students reflect in some way what Kanai Sensei does, then Kanai Sensei doesn't know what he's doing. Certainly not AIKIDO.
They have no idea of any of the basic principles to make Aikido work as it is supposed to. They just end up in a physical stragle of muscular power, not Aikido.
After a few years of practice I returned to see what they were doing at Kanai's Dojo. Just as an observer. I was even more dispointed, and this time Kanai was teaching. He just didin't know what he was doing.
For a person who doesn't know much about Aikido, he/she could be fooled for this Aikido-like-but-not-really-Aikido art this so-called sensei teaches.
If you don't know about Aikido principles, maybe you can buy all the BS Kanai Sensei does. But is not Aikido.
(to be clear: IN THIS COMENTS I REFER TO KANAI SENSEI FROM PERU, NOT THE LATE, EXCELLENT MASTER MITSUNARI KANAI SHIHAN, WHOM I REALLY ADMIRE AND RESPECT, jut to be clear an avoid confusion)
