Hi folks,

I just added a new "spoiler" tag which hides a piece of information until the reader pushes the "show" button. This is often used in movie forums where a sensitive piece of plot information can be hidden.

For example, using the following code:
This text will be hidden until the reader clicks the "show" button
... produces the following in a post:

This text will be hidden until the reader clicks the "show" button
Enjoy!

Thats a cute feature! We can use it when we want to hide our secret techniques...well until newbis figure it out, then they'll have all our secrets.

Or when we want to insult people! We can post something like:

If you don't understand what I'm saying, you aren't intelligent, your teacher didn't teach you right, your mother wears army boots, and I am the final authority on all the above! Oh, I almost forgot...may the fleas of 1 thousand camels infest your armpits and other hairy parts!

Please don't click the button if you have a thin skin....or you don't like fleas...

B,
R ( :) ok, I really am just having fun...)

Cool tool for language practice. Someone could implement this on the items from the language section for flashcards.

...flashcards?! Hey, can we use it for images?!

Nah...

OOps!

Hey Jun, it really is a cool feature...you'll have to excuse those of us bored of networking and holding down a desk...

Best,
Ron (I'd vote for flash cards, but this is a PG rated site... ;) )

Now I _know_ this comment is picky, and please understand that I love this tool. It's a cool tool! But I'd REALLY like it if the text on the button changed from "show" to "hide" and back again depending on what the click of the button would do.

Thanks for the spoiler tag, Jun!!

Hi William,

I don't know which browser and operating system you're using, but the feature that you request is already in there. I just tried using Firefox 1.5, IE 6, Opera 8 under Windows as well as Firefox under Mac OS X it's working OK...

Wow, so it is. :)

I can't see it either in the browser I usually use for reading here, I'm using Konqueror 3.2.3 (on KDE/Linux). I just switched to Firefox to take a peek.

Really? Interesting. I'm using Mac OS 10.4.5 and Safari 2.0.3. When I click the button, I see the hidden text, but the label on the button still says "show", even though the text is shown. It would be cool if it showed "hide" on the button.

I know it's picky, and the feature itself works great, so I'll just shaddup. :freaky:

I'll see if I have time to debug with Safari. I can't say I use that browser very frequently.

I have disabled the use of the "spoiler" tag, as it is no longer being used in the manner in which it was intended to be used.
