In General Hotel Incident Entry Tools Rate This Entry

The Nov 4, 2005 Anniversary Program is over. A last minute unavoidable incident happened when all the ladies were sent home apparently because mingling of male and female were not allowed in functions such as this one. The program was supposed to be a family affair in conjunction with the Eid holiday celebration attuned to building and strengthening family ties which coincidentally fell in line with the club's first year anniversary. The Egyptian General Manager Mr. Sami Abouezz of the Dhahran International Hotel was very rude and treated us in a very unprofessional manner. The entire program proper was disturbed as a result of the non-entry of all female students. Spirits were deadened and the entire celebration was not a complete success. A formal complaint will be filed as a result of this antagonistic approach towards proper customer care and inflexibility that brought complete chaos to the day's event.

However cold and beaten they thought - the show must go on, in other words and so it did. With us to grace the occasion were Ibrahim Al Hawaj Shihan who once again demonstrated his expertise in IAIDO and Raul Makabenta sensei who showed us some shoulder locking moves.

And as they say the rest is history…

Says:
I was supposed to be a part of an affair that was conceived for months with lots of tideous planning and practicing demos for the audience and other students to see but on the day of the event- having been in uniforms and ready for the day- we were told off that women should not be present in this place for the occasion. It was supposed to be a "FAMILY AFFAIR", one that should enhance the unity of the most important entity of the community which is the family- strengthen & unifying the bond. It should have been earlier stipulated that the mixing of genders is not allowed in gatherings like this so that reservations could have been cancelled and other venues could have been considered. A five star hotel such as this one should have at least the decency to tell their customers what and what not to expect. It was rather also unnerving for their very own General Manager to tell their paying guests (however small or big of a patron they may seem) "I am the General Manager and I can do whatever I want" after our husbands literally pleaded our way into letting us stay. I am not sure if it was a racial discrimination on his part (us being all Filipinos) or it was just his way of threatening people that in this place he was the authority. Much to our dismay, he did not act in accordance to what he should have done in the name of proper customer care. Being rude and deameaning as he was to us was quite a sad thing to think about a General Manager's image- If he thinks this way he should not be a part of such a prestigious hotel as he will be the one who will bring it down and stain its name instead of uplifting if not make the place superior, worthy of its name. Such a bad reputation for an excellent 5 star hotel- I would'nt reccomend the place as long as this person is still the General Manager running the show.
