The far side
Of fear, discomfort, and pain
Is a whole new
And different world
That most people don't
Even know exists
But, it is there, habitable
And worthwhile
Sometimes there is
A satisfaction, if not pleasure
In this fear, discomfort, and pain
And, as you look back
At your old self
And at other people
They seem to move
In soft, slow motion
And without authentic life
