Two days, four classes, one new shodan Wow.
KS came into town for MB's wedding, and added two extra classes to the two already planned (flew in on Friday from Japan, flew out Tuesday morning!).

I had the dubious honour of being called up first as uke as NH and MJF were both a little hungover from the wedding the night before, and I did not see that intensity coming, not by a longshot. Absolutely flattened me, and I wouldnt be surprised if some micro stress fractures were created in the tiles under the tatami. It was fantastic.

Found out next time we see each other (yes, who knows when that will be) myself and the two other nidans will be tested for sandan. I think i have just barely grown into a well rounded shodan, let alone nidan obtained this past spring.

RN got tested for shodan and was given the OK to wear a loaner black belt and hakama that very night for the group pictures, fantastic. He started when he was 68, now 75. KS made it a point to tell everyone present that RN is his master, especially in regards to his commitment, spirit and determination. Well done RN, and a real honor to be your uke.

Got my shodan certificate, embroidered belt and hakama. Apparently the kanji selected by Sensei mean "That which comes from benevolence".

Weird to move in a hakama again, now if only I could either tie, wear or fold the darn thing properly....

Here they come.
MB and I were talking, and he got word the other night that IT IS ON!
2 weeks with KS, and likely daily training while he is here.

Holy crap.

When and for how long we do not know yet, but it is official; Sensei is coming. This summer.

MS got the email last week, and when he announced it you could see the excitement in him, and feel it course through everyone. I swear the light changed (wink). That he is coming takes a load off of MS and me in financial terms.

The jibing has been relentless since then about my shodan test. Everyone is getting their shots in, but that's ok.

Wow.

Oh man, here we go.
Tomorrow is June 1st, and still no concrete "Yes, I am coming." or "No, I cannot." from K-Sensei. We have to get this thing nailed down quickly either way. Last word from Japan was websites and fares and schedules were being consulted. That was 2+ weeks ago.

I swear if I survive the whole "is he - isn't he" debacle...

MB " If we can't get you tested here in Montreal this spring, you and I are getting on a plane no later than July and head back to Japan and get you tested. Period."

So, now I must truly get ready. MB assures me I am well past being ready, but like most I wonder if I will ever feel ready.

Tracey and Thomas will likely not be coming along, especially if it is to be a short one week trip. That's a bummer, but like I told Mike, it is not completely a bad thing if it is just him and I getting on the plane for a week.
