Two hours of weapons work with Noel in the park. Worked on the Boken Suburi and some paired boken work. It was very interesting. We also did one of the Kumi Jos for a while. Noel worked with me on some of the issues that I have moving from center, and how to keep more centered and lead from center. We also worked on how to communicate with reluctant Ukes, and what kinds and forms that communication should take to make them the most comfortable, and to have them learn the most. There certainly is a lot to this being a sempei! At the same time I know that people did the same things with me as I was coming up the ranks, especially Rick.
The work on weapons was great, I still feel like a complete idjut when it comes to them though. I understand a little of it, but I don't feel it per se, other than when my shoulders come up as I strike!
I need to keep working on it, and eventually I am sure that something will click, or someone will bop me on the head in frustration at my lack of getting it!
