One of my mum's neophytes came to watch with a view to joining and since she liked what she saw, I introduced her to Sensei who then ordered me to get her the forms. So hopefully she'll appear on Wednesday and it'll be nice to have a new white belt woman on the mat now that the last batch have all graduated to become at least blue belts and the three i often hang out with are already brown belters and don't really need me to act as sempai any longer. I'll pray she sticks around and brings her friends to boot ...would be fun if the church crowd she often hangs out with comes along as I know and like them too...just don't spend as much time with them as she does.

Hi Trish, oh great...hope your newb stays too! We have an average of 25-30% women in class at any one time I'd say and since we're a big dojo it means there's basically a little community of adult women around. There's the exception of one 13 year old brown belt whom we treat with kid gloves (pun intended ). I can see why you'd like more adult company!

Hi Cat I just had a new lady join the dojo tonight too! She usually takes the women's self defense classes that my Sensei teaches, but decided to take the plunge and check out Aikido tonight. I hope she stays, she did really good for her first time out! The other ladies I work out with are actually teenage girls, all under 16. While I enjoy teaching them, it is nice to have another lady there to work with!
