In General Joke.... Entry Tools Rate This Entry
  #3 New 10-08-2008 05:19 PM
This was sent to me the other day...

Following the problems in the financial sector in the US, uncertainty
has now hit Japan. In the last 7 days the Origami Bank has folded, the
Sumo Bank has gone belly up and the Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches. Yesterday, it was announced that the Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today's
shares in the Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived.
While Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cuts, the Ninja
Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black.
Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at the Sushi Bank where it is feared that staff may get a raw deal.

Every now and then I receive a newsletter from the CASA:

I remembered then that I had once heard that in many
indigenous cultures the medicine man or shaman will ask
a person who is ill or despondent, "When did you stop
singing?" and "When did you stop dancing?" and I realized
I had lost a vital part of me along the way -my Jester.

My next training lesson I realised the joy of aikido. The movement of the techniques is quite literally a dance and at child like behaviours. Which makes me remember two quotes.

1. to describe aikido to someone that has never heard of it before would be -- "it's like a dance, yoga and osteopath"

2. There is a fine line between education and entertainment

In General -- Preface -- Entry Tools Rate This Entry

Welcome -
I would like to introduce my self, Andrew Beauchamp.

I would like to use this first bolg to explain the intention for this aikiblog...

I don't feel too unique and I'm not a rare of a species either. My background and education in aikido comes from Tomiki style which, which I was a disciple for many interesting and lucky years. Why? No special reason but only to the fact that nowadays I'm training and loving the Aikikia style of life, and have found myself in an interesting position.

Starting again from the bottom of the chain has been an interesting time, re-learning and changing old habits (Tomiki ones) Now, I'm not the only one to migrate to other styles but I'm the only one I've know that moved from and has Tomiki experience. Enough milking the Tomiki fact. The real reason for this blog is to document my progression over the next couple of years from the bottom of the ranks to some where flying around the dojo with a hakama on.

This blog and many more blogs to come was not intentionally thought of to entertain any readers but to document my insights, dramas and experiences and hopefully much more! If you enjoy them let me know and thanks you for your time. (but I'm not holding my breathe)

cheers.
