I saw the movie adaptation of Dan Millman's first book and thought I'd give a review. If you liked the book, you'll like the movie. It's a nice movie, good at parts, tedious at others and very family friendly. There's a nice bit of gymnastics and Nick Nolte really took on the Socrates character (even with the slightest bit of Russian dialect) but if you're if you're going to see some aikido, you'll be disappointed. Some of the principles are there but mostly in the subtext. If you didn't like the book, don't expect to like the movie, either.
The most distracting thing about the movie was that it was supposed to be set at Cal Berkeley but it was filmed at UCLA, where I got to see the preview at the Festival of Books. One moment you're in NorCal, the next moment you're in Bruin-land. I don't know if anyone not familiar with both locals would be as confused as our audience was.

Well summarized. I was trying to remember when i was watching if there was any aikido in the book. I don't think so, though. Do you recall? I guess i just enjoyed being able to recall things from the book that i read at least 10 years ago.
